In addition to the regular Master’s Academy of Fine Arts classes (our fine arts exposure program in the afternoon), we will be offering additional classes in various subjects.
A student does NOT generally need to be enrolled in Master’s Academy of Fine Arts, our afternoon fine arts exposure program, in order to enroll in these classes. Those wishing to participate in any of our Drama Clubs/Companies must be enrolled at Master’s Academy.

PLEASE NOTE: When registering for these classes, you are committing for the full school year and will be obligated to pay for tuition even if you withdraw your child (please read our withdrawal policies on the registration form).
A minimum of 6 students is required in order for us to hold a class (exceptions are made for all private guitar lessons).

Art Club 1 (6-9 year olds) Katie Carter Focused art instruction designed to enhance your child's artistic talent. Starting with in-depth drawing instruction, we'll explore fundamental tips and techniques such as learning to find the simple shapes that make up complicated objects, line, shadow, proportion and perspective. Each student will need to provide his own spiral bound 8.5x11" sketch book and bring it to class each week. Computer Video Game Creation AND Stop Motion Animated Movie Making Two different classes offered for 8-10 year olds AND 11-13 year olds (LAPTOP REQUIRED - 1GB or higher, Windows XP or 7, NOT compatible with Mac or Netbooks) Instructor: Ena Hackaday Computer Video Game Creation (14 weeks) If you think playing computer games is fun, think what a blast learning to program your own games will be. Your imagination is the limit as you use GameMaker software to create maze, strategy, and a variety of other types of games. Using drag and drop programming, you'll be creating exciting, professional looking games you can play with your friends. You MUST be experienced using a computer to take this class. We'll teach you how to display health, lives, score, splash screens and high score tables. Software works on Windows OS only.
Stop Motion Animated Movie Making (15 weeks) If you've ever wanted to direct your own movies or like making up stories, then this class is for you. Using digital cameras, Stop Motion Pro animation software, and video editing software, you'll create animated movies with transitions, titles, credits, and sound effects. Design your own set with backgrounds, characters, and scenery. The stories are up to your imagination. Students take home a CD with their movies at the end of the class. Offered through Bits,Bytes&Bots.

Robotics Club (8-11 year olds) Instructor: Maria Beaty This club will foster the innate creativity that children have by allowing them to create robots out of Lego pieces and an NXT controller. In our two hour class time your child will learn how to work together with their team mates, build strong and reliable chassis to house the NXT controller, and program the robot to do different tasks. Part two of this program will be to come up with a presentation that will deal with a current topic set by FIRST that deals with a real world concern. The club will participate at some training sessions and the regional competition set in early December were they will compete with other teams with a "Gracious Professionalism" attitude. Some teams will advance to Super Regional in January and possibly State at the end of January. Our team will be called "The Master's Knights" Advancing Science and Technology to Honor our King. Kids will learn in a fun environment: engineering skills, computer and technology skills, communication skills, research skills, teamwork skills, honoring one another's ideas and gifts. Supply Fee: included in tuition fee Tuition: $450 ($50/month -- 9 payments) Class size limit: 10 Creative Movement (4-6 year olds) Instructor: Catherine Garner The students will learn to worship and glorify God through dance using carefully selected music. Students learn the skills and vocabulary to prepare them for Pre-Ballet. In December, we will hopefully go to several different places to perform. The class will also be performing in the spring at the Master’s Academy Open House/Performance Day. Dress attire for class: long sleeve black leotard, dance skirt, theatrical pink tights and theatrical pink ballet shoes. Costume Fee: included in tuition fee Tuition: $405 ($45/month -- 9 payments) Pre Ballet (6 – 9/10 year olds) Instructor: Catherine Garner The students will learn to worship and glorify God through dance using carefully selected music. Communication skills developed in this course will be immediately useful in Master’s Academy class presentations and its end of the year program. This course will train students to successfully deliver a variety of speaking presentations including impromptu, expository, humorous interpretation, dramatic and persuasive. Students will engage in simple exercises with each class period designed to equip them with the tools to become effective communicators. Each student will present a Final Presentation at the end of the course. Master’s Drama Club (9-11 years old) If you or your child(ren) desire to participate in a full scale performance (60-90 minute show), you need to sign up for the Master’s Drama Club. Students will be preparing and performing the play Puss in Boots as well as learning important theatrical skills. Production to be performed on March 21, 2011. Students have to be enrolled in Master's Academy in order to be able to enroll in the Drama Club. The Master’s Drama Club will meet from August, 2010– May, 2011. Tuition: $270 ($35/month - 9 payments) Tuition does not include script, costumes, or tickets to performance.
Master’s Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts Drama Company I (7th-8th grade) Show – The Lion, the Wardrobe and the Witch Auditions will be held on August 9 from 3:30-5:30pm at Grace Community Church. Students will be involved in performing in a major theatrical production as well as learning acting skills necessary for performing this production. Tech week will be from March 28-April 2, 2011. Show dates are April 1 & 2, 2011. Production Fee: $100 per show involved in and due two weeks prior to show. This fee helps us cover: rent of venue, props, set, royalty fees, 2 cast dinners, script, costume, director flowers, production t-shirt, and cast party. Not included in this fee: family tickets, sponsorship ads in the program, personal flowers and make-up. NO REGISTRATION FEE PAYMENT REQUIRED TO REGISTER FOR DRAMA COMPANY I. Tuition: $360 ($40/month {$2.27 per hour of instruction} - 9 payments)

Master’s Voice Performers Junior Choir II (8-11 year olds) Instructor: Kelly Westberry In this class, we will learn the basics of vocal technique, including breath support, vowel shape, tone production, diction, and musical expression. Students will gain confidence in singing two and three part literature as we prepare several songs to perform and learn a variety of vocal warm up exercises. We will also learn to sight read using solfege. Throughout the year, we will work on music to perform at a holiday concert and a spring recital. We may have a few other opportunities to perform as well. Kelly Westberry has a B.S. in Music Education, and a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting, and has over ten years of teaching experience in all levels. Tuition: $225 ($25/month - 9 payments)

Flute Ensemble Class Instructor: Rachel Howard In this class, beginner flute players will learn how to play and perform with their instrument. This class is being taught by a Portfolio student as a community service, so all tuition will go towards musical education at Masters. We currently have two flutes available to rent for $50 per school year, so call Rachael Howard if you need to rent one.
