The Mission of Masterkey Academy

To offer key basic classes in the fine arts to students who are wanting to further develop their skills and interest in drama, music, and/or art.

Masterkey Academy offers classes to students who are still exploring the fine arts and becoming familiar with the basic skills in drama, art, and/or music.  These classes are unrelated to the progression of eras which Master’s Academy explores.  Masterkey Academy consists of two Tracks.  Track A is for students who have graduated from the Master’s Academy program and for incoming seventh and eighth graders who have not participated in our basic drama, art, or music classes.  Track B will offer deeper exploration into areas of interest to students who are ready to get further training in drama, art, or music.  All Masterkey Academy students will be required to take an Arts History class.  This class follows the time period being taught by Master’s Academy each year.  For 2009-2010, the Arts History class will be focusing on the Ancient/Medieval/Renaissance/Baroque Time Periods.

Masterkey Academy provides a transition period for our students between Master’s Academy of Fine Arts (ages 4-11) and more serious, specialized studies in Portfolio Academy for high school students.  Masterkey classes can either be taken throughout middle and high school or used as a bridge to the Portfolio Academy, which begins in ninth grade.  When a student nears ninth grade, our staff will assess the student and provide his/her parents with suggestions on either studying in the Masterkey classes or progressing to the Portfolio Academy.
